From a young age, Mr. Tolbert was groomed to fulfill a second-generation leadership role at AAS. As president of the firm he oversees all aspects of aircraft sales and acquisitions, marketing, business development and market research.

Beginning at the age of 17, he learned every facet of the company’s services in business aviation, starting in corporate aircraft market research. During college, Mr. Tolbert attended classes full-time, earned a pilot’s license, and joined the sales team. By the time he graduated, Mr. Tolbert had emerged as a sales leader, having closed over a dozen transactions of corporate aircraft with a combined value of over $30 million by the age of 22. Today, he presides over one of the industry’s only companies with over 50 years of continuous operation, a testament to AAS’s leadership since the earliest days of private jet aviation.

Mr. Tolbert is an instrument rated pilot, and received a BA in Business Administration with concentrations in marketing and management from the University of South Florida.

Mrs. Tolbert joined American Aircraft Sales in 1980 working alongside her late husband and company founder Charlie Tolbert. Over the years she has worked in a variety of capacities within the business, from research, sales, and marketing, to operational management and accounting. In addition to serving in an executive capacity, her industry experience and knowledge of business aviation are invaluable resources to the entire team. Mrs. Tolbert earned a BS in Geology from Towson University.

Mr. Knapp brings over a decade of aviation and sales experience to American Aircraft Sales along with an enthusiasm for business aviation and commitment to client service. With a focus on meeting and exceeding expectations for buyers and sellers, Christopher quickly distinguished himself for his personal integrity and work ethic. He has transactional experience with a variety of turbine aircraft from light jets and helicopters to ultra long range corporate aircraft in the U.S. and abroad, making Mr. Knapp well versed in the nuances of marketing and selling corporate aircraft. Mr Knapp holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Administration from Utah Valley University as well as a rotorcraft private pilot’s license and a UAS remote pilot certificate.

KAI GUENTHARDT

With over 20 years of industry experience, Mr. Guenthardt is the consummate aviation professional, covering all of the bases from sales and acquisition consulting, private and commercial aircraft operations on EASA basis to non-bankable asset management and finance consulting. In addition to his responsibilities with American Aircraft Sales, he is Managing Director of Jetco Aviation Services, a Swiss based affiliate company focused on the development of business aviation projects in Switzerland and Europe.

Kai started his entrepreneurial aviation carrier in 2005 when he founded Your Jet AG, a Swiss based aircraft management company holding air operator certificates in Switzerland and Austria and operating globally fourteen aircraft from light to heavy long range jets. He sold the company in 2011. Starting in 2013, he worked for over seven years as Managing Partner of Swisspath Aviation AG, an affiliate company of leading independent multi-family office Swisspath AG in Zurich, Switzerland.

Mr. Guenthardt is also a FOCA (Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation) assessed Accountable and Quality Manager and holds an EASA Airline Transport Pilot License with several ratings on turbine and jet aircraft. He is fluent in English and German.

SEAN BROWN

Director of Maintenance

With 20 years’ experience as Crew Lead and Service Team Manager at Gulfstream Aviation, Sean has deep technical knowledge of the entire Gulfstream line, from the G100 to the G650. He’s also qualified in Bombadier heavy aircraft, including the popular Global and Challenger lines, as well as business aircraft from Hawker/Beechcraft. His wealth of mechanical knowledge makes Sean a true asset to the buyers and sellers we represent, allowing him to anticipate potential pitfalls experienced at aircraft service centers, especially during pre-buy inspections.

Sean’s technical experience ranges through the entire Gulfstream line of aircraft including G650, G650ER, G550, G500, GV, G450, G350, GIV, G200, G100, Bombardier heavy aircraft including the Global and Challenger lines of aircraft as well as Hawkers. Sean’s experience working at Gulfstream West Palm Beach for 15 years as Crew Lead and Service Team Manager as well as his experience as Director of Maintenance means he is able to anticipate many of the potential pitfalls buyers and sellers experience at service centers. Today in addition to Sean’s Director of Maintenance role on a Bombardier Global aircraft he also provides insight into prebuy inspection possibilities as well as an onsite presence for American Aircraft Sales clients as requested, during prebuy inspections.
